Horticulture Design

Description: Viewers follow the steps involved in producing container plants at a large wholesale nursery. First, the host introduces the many nursery support facilities, such as administration, marketing and the growing areas. Then, viewers briefly watch plant production procedures including: propagation (seed, cuttings, grafting, tissue culture), misting and indoor/outdoor growing areas, transferring to pots, hardening off, pest control, pruning and preparing for shipment.

Objective:

1. The student will learn the proper facilities needed for container grown plants.

2. The student will learn the different types of propagation associated with container grown plants.

3. The student will establish an understanding for the horticulture industry.
